How Fire Rated Louvers Work
Fire rated louvers are designed with intumescent strips integrated into the blade assembly. Under normal conditions, the louvers allow air to pass through the opening for ventilation. When exposed to fire or high heat, the intumescent material expands rapidly, sealing the louver opening and blocking the passage of flames and smoke.
Key Features
- Intumescent fire-sealing technology
- Automatic expansion during fire exposure
- Maintains fire compartment integrity
- Allows airflow during normal building operation
Fire Resistance Ratings
CITL fire rated louvers are available in multiple fire resistance ratings, including 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes. These ratings represent the amount of time the louver can withstand fire exposure while maintaining its integrity and preventing the spread of flames and smoke.
